New Product: Aqua Lung i770R Dive Computer
Aqua Lung has recently introduced their new top-tier dive computer, the i770R, and we have to say our first impressions of it are great! Read our initial review here and check out the features list below.
This computer is packed with so many great and easy-to-use features, but the first real standout thing you’ll notice is the full color, crystal clear TFT display that is ultra-bright and incredibly easy to read. Despite having a large full color display, the computer itself is packaged into a robust, functional, and compact design. It feels great to wear on your arm, feels well-built and solid enough to take any knocks or bumps in stride.
The i770R is perfect for the tech-savvy diver as it includes wireless Bluetooth connectivity and a rechargeable lithium battery as standard. You can wirelessly manage your dive data and settings on your mobile device via the computer’s Bluetooth connectivity and after your dive share your memories, stats, photos, and dive site on social media all through the free DiverLog+ app. Plus, the inclusion of a rechargeable battery means its great for travelling and cuts down on any maintenance risks which come with not having to change your own battery.
In terms of ease-of-use and intuitive design, this computer beats some of the top dive computers on the market. It has a simple 3-button navigation which feels responsive and is easy to use even with thick gloves and a nice logical menu structure. It is refreshingly easy to use and understand. You can actually navigate without having to reference the User Manual every 2 minutes! I can see why Aqua Lung have described the i770R as “Complex made easy”!
The list of other features packed into the i770R includes a 3-axis full tilt compass, multiple gas capability (including up to 4 gases), air Integration capability with up to 4 transmitters and 4 operating modes. This all keeps any diver equipped and whist the i770R is geared more for the recreational diver, it will handle some basic technical diving with ease too!
For those technical nerds like me wondering, the Aqua Lung i770R utilises a decompression algorithm which is based on Bühlmann ZHL-16C. Aqua Lung note this as “an algorithm for the safety conscious diver”, which i certainly like the sound of.
The computer comes out of the box with either a NATO Wrist Band (which is substantially stronger and more secure than a standard rubber strap) or bungee configuration. The option to choose is a nice feature, especially for divers like me who prefer a bungee when diving with my drysuit over a strap. Both options feel comfortable and secure.
All in all this looks like a fantastic computer. Packed full of nice modern features, incredibly intuitive and easy-to-use menus, and a sleek, solid design with a fantastic colour screen, the Aqua Lung i770R is the ultimate dive computer for any recreational diver!
