Refresh Your Skills | Get Back in the Water

Rowand’s Reef will help you get back into diving and refresh your scuba skills.

Step 1: Knowledge Review

Review and refresh your scuba diving knowledge. As well as going through topics with your Divemaster, have the option to dive further into your learning with the PADI Reactivate program.

Attend a one-hour knowledge review session with one of our Divemasters before you conduct your practical training.
In addition to your Refresher training, you can enroll in PADI’s ReActivate learning. Work your way through PADI ReActivate Refresher theory online in your own time from the comfort of your own home.
Participation in PADI ReActivate is not mandatory but recommended as allows students to dive deeper into topics of concern and rebuild a concrete understanding of scuba fundamentals. In addition, after completion of the ReActivate Refresher course, you will receive a new 'Reactivated' PADI Certification eCard which you can show to dive stores as proof of your reactivation.

Practical Training

Return to the water and practice your diving skills. Choose to conduct your training either in the pool or out in open water.

Spend an hour in the pool with one of our Divemasters going over fundamental techniques and practicing your diving skills.
We run Pool Refresher Courses once a month. Please see below for upcoming dates.
Price: $150 per person
Complete two open water dives with your Divemaster to refresh your skills, either at Whytecliff Park or Buntzen Lake.
Open water Refresher Courses can be booked for any date. Dates can be requested during the booking process.
Price: $150 per person, then $50 per additional person

1 hour of classroom instructional time.
2 Open Water dives or a 1-hour pool session.
10% Discount on in-store product purchases for the duration of your course (some exceptions apply).
Transportation can be provided in our shop van if personal transport is unavailable. Spaces are limited and will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Rental equipment

Pool Refresher:

All rental equipment, except for mask & snorkel, is included in the course price.

Open Water Refresher:

Rental equipment is not included in the course price. At an additional cost, we can provide you with all the rental equipment required for this course except for a mask and snorkel - all students must have a personal mask and snorkel which can be purchased from the Rowand’s Reef store using your 10% discount.

Prerequisites

Minimum age: 10 years
All students must complete the PADI Medical Questionnaire or have clearance to dive from a qualified physician.

FAQs

The PADI Refresher Course is perfect for those looking to get back into diving following a break from the sport. It’s a great way to prepare for your next PADI course, tropical dive vacation, or cold water dive here in British Columbia. With your Rowand’s Reef instructor, you’ll review scuba concepts and then get out in the water, re-building confidence in your diving skills.
PADI recomends that you should take a Refresher course if 6-12 months have elapsed since your last dive. As a result, if you haven’t been diving within the year, most dive shops or tour operators will not allow you to dive with them without first taking a Resfresher Course.
Here at Rowand’s Reef we follow these same guidelines and will require anyone who hasn’t dived within the last 12 months to partake in a Refresher Course before joining us on one of our dives. If you’re looking to sign up for one of our continued education courses and haven’t been diving with the year then we offer a Refresher Add-On for the majority of courses which will allow you to refresh your knowledge alongside working towards your new certification.
Every Refresher Course is a little different as our PADI Professionals tailor the learning to their students’ unique situations. We will make sure you understand important dive safety concepts, dive planning essentials, and problem management. In the water, you will regain comfort and confidence in scuba diving, practicing diving best practices as well as safety-related skills.
